Unicorn Energy Resources is proudly partnering with the "Energie Pour l'Afrique" initiative
Unicorn Energy Resources has reinforced its interest in the emergence of biofuels in Africa as a whole through two major strategies.
First, a primary investment into a European based listed biofuels Technology Company with proprietary innovative biochemistry technology. This is expected to move the Unicorn Group to the next step of the research on bio carburant, upgrading our strategy from pure ethanol (additive to gasoline) to an actual potential replacement to current fuels.
This primary investment will yield a board seat to the Unicorn Group at the holding level. Subsequently, it is expected to be followed by a first biofuels factory being set up in Nigeria as a 50% partnership managed by a Unicorn led team. This project represents a very bold technological development, which risk is being mitigated by the niche market it targets: aviation fuel, cosmetic industry, etc.
This is to complete our efforts in the development of ethanol production in the sub-Saharan region through moving up the ladder in more advanced technological product.
Therefore, UER is poised to offer two types of biofuels to two distinct markets. The bio ethanol, commonly used as a blending additive to the traditional gasoline to produce E10 to E20, and a bio carburant able to replace gasoline, especially Jet fuel, as well as some of chemical derivatives currently used in the cosmetic industry.
The first is expected to respond to a growing industrial market, particularly in Asia where the concerns for Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) related pollution has led governments to take drastic regulatory measures. A sharp increase in the demand for bio ethanol is expected to take place in those markets in the coming two years, offering new opportunities for the countries where we operate as producer and exporter to leverage on their agricultural potential.
The second offers a technological leap in that, through proprietary technology, it aims at replacing the very gasoline being widely utilized today and thus proposing additional usage of agricultural resources while lowering the dependence of Africa on raw material extraction as primary source of foreign exchange.
Our business expansion in the clean and renewable businesses are an essential part of our goal to guaranty sustainability of our business model aimed at ensuring future return to shareholders, as much as our interest to contribute actively to a better environment in which we operate.
This business philosophy is underscored by the participation of Unicorn leadership in various initiatives, aimed at a greater respect of the environment and an enhanced efficiency in the usage of energy.
